Prose; Ever Since (G)
Ever Since
By Annie Cheng
I could no longer see the stars at the brink of night – only a world of darkness.
I could no longer taste the pancakes we used to make together – was it sweet or salty? Or perhaps bitter.
I could no longer walk along the crimson sea of memories – your gentle touch is now subjugated by the lonely breeze.
I could no longer trace our names on our old Willow – the foliage I hold while tracing your name would shatter and increase yet another dent at my heart.
Oh, and perhaps you may reminisce the first time we met at the river. Our young hearts were pounding harder than ever when you stole my first kiss.
You culprit; saying sorry is not extenuating for the hatred and forlorn that now conquers my soul, my heart.
It was… ever since the day I let you walk out of my world, my small universe, is now irrevocably damaged, and will never heal itself.
Ever since.
